In August we wrote about selecting the right royalty-free music for sizzle reels. Sizzle reels, or demo reels, are a great way for organizations to provide a dynamic, multimedia overview of what they are all about. Music to be used for a corporate sizzle reel needs to be cleared for commercial use, otherwise the organization risks copyright infringement and the incurrence of potentially significant expenses.
We wrote that article after we had a number of requests to provide suggestions for royalty-free production music that would be appropriate for “sizzle reels”. After those recent requests, we specifically tagged a select group of royalty-free music tracks that we think will work well for many sizzle reels. A search on MusicRevolution.com (www.musicrevolution.com) for “sizzle reel” yields the following 11 tracks—
After writing last month’s blog article about royalty-free music for sizzle reels, we realized that MusicRevolution.com didn’t have its own sizzle reel and that we were missing a great promotional opportunity. So we engaged Tom Knight (http://www.tlkvo.com) to help us create a world-class sizzle reel of our own. To point Knight in the right direction for what we were looking to accomplish, we started with the music first. We decided that “Hope” by Sheyn Love would help us to convey the message that we were looking for MusicRevolution.com—

Our search metadata for “Hope” includes the descriptive terms “energetic”, “inspiring” and “fun’. These are all music qualities that can help to make a great sizzle reel.
With the track in hand, along with some copy, Tom Knight ran with the project. The following sizzle reel for MusicRevolution.com is the result—
Get the Flash Player to see this player. We are really pleased with how our sizzle reel came out. We think that our sizzle reel does a great job of communicating what MusicRevolution is all about. Others might have approached this project differently– they might have started with the video first and then they would have searched for the right music to accompany the video. You’re probably not shocked to hear that we started with the music since we are in the music business. Either way can work, but if you ask Tom Knight, I’ll bet he will tell you that the royalty-free music track we selected gave him clearer direction about what we wanted to achieve than any words could have.
With over 15,000 tracks of royalty-free production music online, there are many other possible music choices for sizzle reels on MusicRevolution.com.
