Although the Thomas Newman-esque soundtrack and glorious slow motion shots of liquids pouring make this yogurt commercial noteworthy, it’s really the poem (brilliantly read by William Dafoe) that makes it extraordinary:

I’m now on a mission to find the original author of this poem.

The song featured in this movie trailer for the soon-to-be-released Madea’s Big Happy Family is fantastic:

It’s  “M.A to the D.E.A” by FS (featuring Northern League). It’s available on iTunes.

From what I can see it was commissioned specifically for this movie trailer so the artist is probably independent and maybe even located in Atlanta. I’d like to track down this artist for an interview and do a follow-up blog on the production of this killer track.

If anyone has a lead on where to find FS (featuring Northern League), please contact us at https://www.musicrevolution.com/contact_us/

A Juniper Research report released in January 2011 predicts that ringback tone advertising will reach $780 Million Annually by 2015.

What exactly is a ringback tone? This video explains it quite well:

The growth of mobile phone usage in certain Asian Pacific countries over the last few years has far outpaced the US due in large to underdeveloped land line phone systems in those emerging economies.

Resourceful marketers have exploited the branding opportunity that lies within a caller who is waiting for someone to answer the phone. That person is focusing a good bit of their attention on what’s coming out of that phone. Why not use that opportunity to play a five second ad for that new Bollywood film coming to a theater near you?

Based on communications we’ve received from companies in India that provide music for mobile networks outside of the US, we think this represents opportunity for creators of production music. More to come…

A few weeks ago Anthony Tommasini wrote an interesting article for The New York Times entitled “The Greatest” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/23/arts/music/23composers.html?_r=1 ,

which was about the greatest classical music composers of all time, not including those composers that are still with us. At the top of the list was Johann Sebastian Bach. Rounding out the top three were Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The article is certainly worth reading.

A search for “classical” on MusicRevolution.com, an online marketplace for royalty-free production music, yields over 1,600 tracks https://www.musicrevolution.com/search/?keyword=Enter&application=0&mood=0&genre=20&instrument=0&influence=&vocals=1&results=20&x=34&y=8 and includes royalty-free music from many great composers in Tommasini’s Top 10 which includes Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, Stravinsky, Brahms, Verdi, Wagner and Bartok.

And a search for “Apollo Symphony Orchestra” on MusicRevolution.com returns a collection of nearly 500 classical tracks produced with an orchestra

https://www.musicrevolution.com/search/?keyword=Apollo+Symphony+Orchestra&application=0&mood=0&genre=0&instrument=0&influence=&vocals=1&results=20&x=38&y=3 .

This great collection of production music tracks includes compositions from Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Smetana, Handel and Mahler, among others.

One of my favorite classical music tracks is ‘The Moldau” which was composed by Bedrich Smetana.

https://www.musicrevolution.com/search/?keyword=Moldau+River+%28from+Ma+Vlast%29&application=0&mood=0&genre=0&instrument=0&influence=&vocals=1&results=20&x=31&y=12

The track is just over 6 minutes in length. Be patient for the first minute or so while the track starts to build. After that, if you close your eyes you can envision the flowing Moldau River after which the compostion was named.

Classical music is timeless and can be used for background music or for almost any type of video, TV, film, advertisement or any other multi-media project where production music is needed.

Who do you think is the greatest (non-living) classical composer of all time? We would love to hear your opinion. Go to our Forum and let us know.

There is a tremendous amount of production music available in traditional production music libraries and more music is becoming available on the Internet on sites like MusicRevolution.com. Of course, like any other type of content, it’s a fair bet that the migration of production, or stock, music to the Web will continue. However, finding the right production music track for your project, at the right price, can be a daunting challenge with all of this content.

At MusicRevolution.com we are selective– we only accept high quality, royalty-free production music from professional musicians and aspiring musicians with professional skills. With over 11,000 tracks live on MusicRevolution.com and with music being added every day, how do we categorize and keep track of all of this music so that video producers, multi-media producers, filmmakers and other music buyers can find the tracks that they need? When production music tracks are uploaded to MusicRevolution.com, they are tagged with keywords and information covering the following categories–

–Application- for example, advertising, retail, presentation

–Mood- for example, angry, energetic, inspiring

–Genre–20 genres including rock, classical and drama

–Instruments- for example, acoustic guitar, piano, strings

–Vocals or no vocals?

–Select influences– for example, The Beatles or Lady Gaga influenced the musician when they created this track.

The “Select Influences” feature is one of the innovative aspects of the “Advanced Search” function on MusicRevolution.com. While musicians and music buyers may describe music by using terms such as “rock”, “energetic” and “electric guitar”, they often think of the production music that they are looking for based on the sound and feel of a popular band, such as The Rolling Stones. This is why we built the “Select Influences” feature into the “Advanced Search” on MusicRevolution.com. As an example, if you are looking for a royalty-free music track that sounds or feels like Coldplay, click on “Select Influences” in the “Advanced Search” on MusicRevolution.com, scroll down and click on “Coldplay”, then click “Search”. The search results return 44 tracks. The following are the first two results–

–Sky Glider by Mark Hewer https://www.musicrevolution.com/search/?trackid=437

–Heartbeat by Shockwave-Sound https://www.musicrevolution.com/search/?trackid=243

You can see, or should I say hear, where the musicians and tracks might have been influenced by Coldplay.

The result of all of this keywording/metadata to describe each and every track, and features like “Select Influences”, is a very advanced and intuitive search that enables the user to find the right production music for their projects on MusicRevolution.com. And if the “Advanced Search” doesn’t turn up the track that you are looking for, let us know and our music editors will be happy to help you with your search. And if our music editors can’t find the production music track that you need on MusicRevolution.com, we can also reach out to our community of hundreds of professional musicians to find the production music track that you need.

I’ve just checked the royalty statements for our musicians and see that in our 1st year online well over 60 of our musicians have made money.  Are you one of them? Be sure to log into your account from time to time to watch your royalty balance grow. And please remember we pay quarterly on all balances that have reached $50.00 or more.

We’re working hard to make money with the great music you create. One thing we’ve learned in our 1st year is that musicians expect to be notified by email whenever their music sells.

While that makes sense, it’s not something we had built into our original site spec. We’ll be sure to add it later, but for now we’d prefer to focus our energy on selling your music and ask you to periodically check your balance.

I know from experience it’s a tremendous feeling to earn royalties.  I’ve heard artists joke that after a big project they feel like they’ve given birth. In the case of production music, that metaphor extends to having those kids grow up and work the family farm while you’re inside an air-conditioned house sipping tea!

When you get a chance, check your www.musicrevolution.com account balance, oh creator of music.

Thanks for letting us sell your music!

We are proud to announce that for musicians with large catalogs we can now do bulk meta data uploads. In our experience, uploading the actual production music audio files is usually pretty painless. It’s the meta data tagging process that takes the longest.

Here’s how it works: You organize all of your meta data on a CSV spreadsheet in a specific format created by our developers. Then we push all that meta data live in one fell swoop.

If you’re interested, please contact us here and we’ll send you the CSV template. Thanks for letting us sell your music!
